A Option for Displaying Content Information on Spray Tanks

NYSDEC has indicated that sprayer tanks may be considered alternative pesticide containers when they contain a pesticide spray mix while being transported on a public highway or off premises from where it was loaded. Under these conditions, the tank must be marked with the following information:

1). Name & address of the manufacturer, registrant, or person for whom manufactured;

2). Name, brand or trade-mark under which said article is sold;

3). Net weight or measure of the content; subject to such reasonable variations as the commisioner may permit.

A clear, zipper-closing plastic pencil holder (below) is one option that might be used to hold labels or printed information required for tanks when they are considered "alternative pesticide containers." Note the heavy duty Velcro fastener attached to the back of the top pencil holder.

The airblast sprayer below has a pencil holder attached by Velcro to the front tank surface (away from the fan and nozzles). Note the volume scale on the tank to the right of the pencil holder. This scale or a printed tank maximum volume might be sufficient to satisfy requirements for posting "net weight or measure of contents" regardless of actual volume of liquid in the tank at any time.

Additional information on the NY laws concerning alternative pesticide containers {ECL 33-1301(1) and ECL 33-0303(3)(e)} can be found here.
